Methods workshop with Laura Nelson

“Make big data small, or you’ll risk missing the signals.” 

On Tuesday 24 March, DISTRACT hosted a virtual workshop with computational sociologist, Laura Nelson. An important take away point from Laura's insights was how to not forget about the margins, to be open to surprise and to make big data small! Due to COVID-19, the DISTRACT team has gone virtual which means that we can try out new ways of working and meeting up virtually. We will take Laura's insights with us in our future work with both the current research projects within DISTRACT as well as our newly-funded corona-related research projects which most of the DISTRACT-team will participate in as well.
