Digitization in healthcare in Denmark: Effects, fairness and the future

Digital tools and algorithms are increasingly used in the Danish healthcare system — for example in decision support for clinicians and digital services for patients. This project studies what happens when such tools move from development into everyday practice: how they influence decision-making, patient outcomes, efficiency, and fairness.

SODAS contributes with expertise on how digital infrastructures shape behaviour and inequality. Together with partners in Region H, Andreas Bjerre-Nielsen at SODAS will design the evaluation framework — identifying where digital services may unintentionally advantage some groups over others, and how human decision-makers respond to algorithmic information.

More broadly, the SODAS role is to bridge data science, social theory, and institutional practice — ensuring that the project not only measures effects, but also helps understand the social mechanisms behind them.
