Eva Otto in debate: Does surveillance improve our lives?
The diagnosed rise of "surveillance society" or "surveillance capitalism" has in recent decades become a prominent field of study and scrutiny. DISTACT member, phd-fellow Eva Otto had the chance to debate whether "surveillance improves our lives" on the 23rd of February at the first Manchester style debate - Copenhagen edition, at the Department of Anthropology, Copenhagen University. The panelists drew on anthropological and criminology research within fields of automated-decision making, app development, sex trafficking and chronic living, showing the breath and scope of the question of surveillance today.
