Associate professorship in Economics and Social Data Science

The Department of Economics and the Center for Social Data Science (SODAS), Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH) invites excellent candidates for an associate professorship in Economics and Social Data Science.

The position is a permanent, full-time position and is available from 01/09/22 or as soon as possible thereafter. It is a joint position equally shared between The Department of Economics and SODAS. The associate professor will be employed by the Department of Economics.


Situated in the heart of Copenhagen, the Department of Economics is one of the leading economics departments in Europe and offers courses at all levels. The Department of Economics has a strong international research profile and a vibrant and dynamic research and teaching environment. SODAS is an interdisciplinary social science centre. The associate professor is expected to contribute actively to the advance of these research and teaching environments

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of the post include contributing to the scholarship and intellectual life of the University by conducting world-class research and teaching. An associate professor also has administrative responsibilities and is expected to develop the field in synergy with other fields as well as to exercise academic leadership.

General duties attached to the position as Associate Professor in Economics and Social Data Science are:

  • Research within the field of Economics and Social Data Science.
  • Teaching, supervision and examination of undergraduate and post-graduate
  • Administrative tasks.
  • Knowledge sharing with the rest of the society
  • Research and teaching management
  • Raising external research grants
