School districts are redrawn to offset social and economic disparities, but the strong families are not moving. Even schools with a high academic level are deselected if the student group is too diverse.
"Children should meet peers at school who did not look like themselves and who came from other areas. But the question is whether to force the families to chose differently with the help of these district changes is an effective way of doing it. Our answer is: No, you cannot force strong families into diverse schools. At least not in the way you do it now", says Assistant Professor at SODAS, Andreas Bjerre-Nielsen.
